While Phillips 66’s flagship station has always been a good spot to refuel, it is now now a fantastic place to recharge. And this is only the start.

The installation of ultrafast electric vehicle chargers at a convenience store close to Phillips 66’s Houston headquarters by FreeWire Technologies is the first of its kind at a Phillips 66 station.

To meet the rising demand from EV drivers for high-speed charging alternatives, Phillips 66 and FreeWire deployed new, ultrafast battery-integrated technology earlier this year. Phillips 66 will make use of its extensive network, which includes more than 7,000 US stations with the Phillips 66®, Conoco®, and 76® brands as well as other key locations. I’ll return to this arrangement later.

The recently installed Texas chargers are the first of their sort in the region.

According to Rod Palmer, vice president of US marketing at Phillips 66, “the installation of the first FreeWire EV chargers at our Phillips 66 flagship fuel station signals an important step in our EV charging journey as well as our commitment to pursue lower-carbon solutions.” The Phillips 66-branded network of filling stations places the chargers at already-existing, well-located venues, giving consumers the fast-charging experience they desire.

According to Phillips 66, the company’s recent launch of EV chargers demonstrates its commitment to meeting the world’s energy needs sustainably as one of the four pillars of its Emerging Energy and Sustainability business strategy, which also includes hydrogen, batteries, carbon capture, and renewable fuels.

For websites interested in adding EV charging capabilities, the FreeWire Boost Charger is a more practical choice. It does away with the need for expensive building and permissions by linking to already-existing infrastructure. The battery charges at off-peak hours when electricity is less expensive, cutting operational costs while still giving customers a quick charge.

Arcady Sosinov, founder and CEO of FreeWire, said, “We are thrilled to recognize this milestone with Phillips 66 and to make our fast-charging solution accessible to more EV users. Our battery-integrated chargers provide the simplified, shovel-ready solution that many people entering the EV charging industry are looking for as charging demand continues to soar.
