Porsche Is Offering the Most 2023 Features

The ability to update software is one of the best features of computerized and linked automobiles. The greatest software upgrades include bug fixes, some recalls, and even new features over-the-air (OTA), so a dealer visit is not necessary to obtain them. It’s better to be able to update rather than needing to buy new parts to change how the car operates, even if these upgrades include a trip to the dealer.

We’ve known for a while that Porsche will improve range for the majority of Taycan EVs starting in 2023, but we strangely overlooked an important announcement : these new features will also be accessible to owners of Taycans built before 2023 through a software update.

Since its launch at the end of 2019, Porsche’s Taycan all-electric sports car has been supplied to more than 75,000 individuals worldwide. All model variants can now be upgraded to match the 2023 model year with a software update, regardless of how old your car is, what engine it has, or what body type it has. According to Porsche, the upgrade would be tailored to each market.

Depending on when they received their vehicles, customers will reap a variety of benefits, such as improved powertrain economy and access to new features and enhancements in the assistance systems, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), and Porsche Connect. The upgrade also improves Taycan models’ over-the-air update capability and adds the opportunity to unlock specific features and equipment after purchase (function on demand, FoD). The best thing is that customers can complete the update for free when visiting a nearby Porsche repair center.

“This campaign will make it possible for our clients to gain from the Taycan’s ongoing advancement. Since 2019, we have significantly improved the model series in practically every way possible, according to Kevin Giek, vice president of the Taycan model line. To further improve the client experience, new functions have been added, while others have been reviewed or modified. Anyone driving a Taycan from the beginning of the car’s production cycle will be pleasantly surprised by how much has changed on the vehicle side since then after this update.

Depending on how old the automobile is, a particular number of upgrades and innovations may have been placed in your Taycan. Let’s expand on these developments a little bit:

POWERTRAIN In order to save energy, the “Normal” and “Range” driving modes on all-wheel drive vehicles partially disconnect the front electric motor. The use of an electric freewheel in these modes extends the vehicle’s range by decreasing frictional drag losses. Searching for the energy-flow indicator in the center display will allow the driver to determine whether all-wheel drive is activated.

In other words, the driver has easy and automatic access to the vehicle’s energy state. For added convenience, the regenerative braking system has also been updated and will continue to function even if the driver switches between driving modes. The general level of consumer convenience will therefore be higher for these Taycan vehicles from the 2020 to 2021 model years.

RADIANT MANAGEMENT The Taycan can be quickly charged more frequently and over a wider range of battery charge levels thanks to its increased battery conditioning, especially in colder weather (SoC). As a result, the Taycan models for the 2020 and 2021 model years can have longer ranges and faster charging periods. The battery is further tempered using the waste heat from the electrical components.

Porsche Connect and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) New functionality, a start screen tile design with more color, and improved usability are some of the revised model’s characteristics. The update enhances voice control and incorporates the Spotify app for Taycan models built in 2020 and 2021 until the middle of 2022. Wireless access to Android Auto is available.

The Taycan’s navigation system has been modified to include charging outlets for the 2021 model year. The charging capacity is a selection and filter option for this model’s drivers. The head-up display has also been enhanced for a better view of the map’s information. Operating instructions can now be supplied using voice control for all models manufactured before 2023.

HELPING SYSTEMS Finding a parking space will be simpler than ever thanks to the new and updated ParkAssist feature. This solution is available for models made in 2020 and later and has a longer range.

A HARDWARE UPGRADES FOR FASTER LEVEL 2 CHARGING IS AVAILABLE The 22 kW onboard charger is currently adaptable. Customers have the option to combine this retrofit with a software update workshop visit. With a charging capability of up to 22 kW, the version considerably accelerates battery charging.
