50% More PlugShare EV Stations, 5 Million Check-Ins

Since I’ve been researching and writing about the EV market, PlugShare has consistently ranked as one of the best applications for EV drivers. It will locate charging facilities of every kind in your neighborhood or anywhere you are traveling in the world. As a crowdsourced effort, EV drivers collaborate with one another to submit details and images regarding the charging stations they use. They are especially helpful when they check in and report whether or not the chargers are functioning as well as timestamps. Without wasting time travelling to the station, you may check the app to discover if a charger has ever been out of commission. You can see whether a new station has been added but is not yet available online or when it will. Users can additionally add the rate (kW) they were able to charge at, which is helpful because a station’s actual charge rate may range significantly from its listed rating.

Users of PlugShare have already checked in on the app 5 million times, marking a significant achievement in the service’s contribution to EV life.
Additionally, from June 2021 to June 2022, the number of EV charging stations listed on the app increased by 50%, from 400,000 to 600,000.
Additionally, the business recently hit 2.5 million registered users!

Since mid-2021, the app has been a member of the EVgo Inc. (NASDAQ: EVGO) family, and EVgo shared the news of these recent achievements.

EVgo provided additional information on the functionality of the app and how it benefits EV drivers everywhere: With PlugShare, an interactive resource for EV drivers, users can quickly find and find their way to chargers, filter results based on their preferred network, charging speed, or connector type (CHAdeMO, CCS, J-1772, Tesla), and share real-time charging station reviews based on important factors like nearby amenities or the functionality of the charging equipment. The PlugScore rating of a station, which accounts for recent drivers’ charging experiences, is directly influenced by this community comments. As millions of new EV drivers negotiate their first EV charging experiences, the accuracy of these PlugScores is improved with more user check-ins at stations, offering an increasingly valuable service.

The PlugShares network has demonstrated that the industry’s exponential growth has persisted through 2022. It added nearly as many EV fast charging stations in the first half of 2018 as it did in the entire year of 2021. Over 100,000 DC fast chargers are available worldwide. In just one year, there has been a 50% rise, or a doubling every two years.

The total number of EV charging station locations on PlugShare rose by 21.9% in the second quarter, while the total number of chargers rose by 25%. The platform’s history’s highest quarterly rise is that.

No matter where they charge, providing useful information and tools to improve the everyday EV driver’s experience is crucial to our business, according to Dan Wheeler, Director of Digital Marketing at PlugShare. We are happy to see this flood in user contributions as we contribute to promote the expansion of EV adoption globally. Our growth in overall users and interaction directly reflects how drivers increasingly utilize digital tools to make real-time charging decisions.

Now, PlugShare now accepts payments for charging. You can start a charging session directly from the app and pay for charging by using Pay with PlugShare.
