Today is a significant day for the Danish capital’s environmental journey since Trine Bramsen, Denmark’s minister of transportation, will officially open the country’s largest urban ultra-fast charging facility. The hub is Viggo’s third openly accessible location. Viggo is a Danish mobility tech firm.
Urban EV infrastructure is in great demand due to Denmark’s goal of having 1 million EVs on the road by 2030, but up until now, central Copenhagen has only been able to provide EV owners and operators with sluggish and regular rapid chargers. Viggo, a green technology and mobility firm, has now overcome the difficulty of making urban ultra fast charging accessible to all EV customers, drastically lowering the average charging time.
With a growing fleet and the only totally electric ride-hailing service in Scandinavia, Viggo made the decision to support EV urban infrastructure in 2021.
In Scandinavia, there has been a sharp rise in demand for charging infrastructure over the past few years. According to Viggo CEO Kenneth Herschel, we chose to create our own publicly accessible charging infrastructure rather than contributing to the problem with our expanding fleet.
The goal of Viggo’s subsidiary ViggoEnergy, which was established last year, is to construct ultra-fast charging centers in urban areas.
The sandbox for European ambitions is Copenhagen. As part of their strategy for expanding throughout Europe, Viggo intends to open more than 60 new hubs with 500 charging stations over the next 34 years.
According to Kenneth Herschel, this hub in the center of Copenhagen serves as our third and largest hub to date and serves as the cornerstone for furthering our presence in Europe.
At Bernstorffsgade 35, Viggo’s new center is conveniently adjacent to Copenhagen Central Station and the renowned Tivoli Gardens.
