Traveler Electric Longboard Breaks Down Just Before Takeoff

Depending on who you ask, electric longboards are more than simply a fad; they’re a way of life. Even though “surfing” down the ground at high speeds is one of the most enjoyable and inexpensive ways to travel, it might be challenging to carry a longboard on a bus, train, or airplane. That’s where Traveler comes in.

One e-board that defies the generalization that they are challenging to travel with is the appropriately called Traveler Board. Instead, it has been built to be portable, dividing at crucial locations to neatly fit into a carry-on-style “personal item” backpack.

According to the official Kickstarter blurb, “The Traveler Board employs patent-pending QuickSplit technology that allows it to be broken down and packed up into our custom backpack in less than a minute.” “The Traveler Board’s unmatched portability is sure to improve all those moments you can’t be riding,” says the manufacturer. “Whether you need to store yours in a locker at your destination, carry it on a flight, pack it up to covertly keep next to you in a public place or classroom, stow it out of the way on public transportation, or carry it on your back when the road runs out.”

Riders won’t have to sacrifice quality as a result of all that additional portability, though. The Traveler Board doesn’t fall short in terms of components. Highlights include two Caliber II trucks, Orangatang wheels, Riptide/Blood Orange bushings, Zealous bearings, and Canadian maple/triaxial fiberglass decks that connect to each other (and everything else) with the kind of “insert tab A into slot B” Ertl-model simplicity that older guys like Steve Hanley and I can definitely appreciate.

However, according to Travelboard, “the fully-programmable speed controls are capable of outputting a total of 7060 W (9.46 HP) of continuous power to any aftermarket brushless motors you care to install.” The two 1380 W base motors will get you up to 27 MPH, and the two 2450 W performance motors will get you up to 33 MPH.

You can change in some insanely powerful motors and accelerate to fifty miles per hour.

You should also let us know how that happens. Check out the company’s Kickstarter page’s promotional video in the interim, and then let us know what you think of the idea of a split-level longboard in the comments section below.
