No one could have envisaged an electric car traveling even just a short distance from Mount Everest five years ago (Mount Qomolangma in Chinese).
But it is now possible thanks to the constantly growing network of Tesla Superchargers. A Tesla Model X and a Tesla Model Y have arrived at the base camp of Mount Everest. The amazing voyage was documented, put together, and posted on YouTube earlier this week by Tesla’s official channel from Greater China.
As soon as Chinese bridge designer and vlogger Trensen learned that Tesla had finished installing its Supercharger network 318 along this route, he made the decision to embark on this expedition right away.
Everyone believed Mr. Trensen had gone insane when he told his colleagues that he planned to drive to Mount Everest. However, he began his extraordinarily protracted journey from Chongqing in China to the Everest Base Camp.
His Model X and Model Y Tesla cars were both capable of ascending Mount Everest’s Chinese Northern Base Camp, which is located at a height of 5,200 meters (17,060 feet).
Of course, internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles use more fuel than electric vehicles (EVs) when navigating high mountain roads.
Along this challenging path, Tesla’s Supercharger network was there to support this adventure, and it really made it feasible. Other electric vehicle producers don’t have as extensive of a charging infrastructure. As a result, Tesla currently enjoys the global market share for electric vehicles.
Camp Mode is a unique feature of Tesla automobiles. Because there is no engine creating such gases, you may set the temperature inside the car, lock it, and go to sleep without worrying that carbon monoxide gas would enter the cabin like in fossil-fueled vehicles.
The weather becomes increasingly colder as you move closer to the high mountains, and this is when Tesla’s temperature control options, such as Camp Mode, are most helpful. Additionally, being able to remotely set the cabins temperature and melt the snow on the windshield and the glass roof is important when it’s cold outside.
For Trensen and his staff, this excursion was made easier and more fun by the features of the Tesla vehicle.
