The infographic below from ABB (Powering the cloud) will demonstrate how much energy data centers consume. The infographic below gives us even more perspective and addresses some important tips for making data centers more efficient. A few weeks ago, I posted a related infographic on the data centers of the largest websites in the world, which I thought was extremely intriguing and eye-opening. There is no doubt that the energy use of the IT sector in general and data centers in particular is a large concern now and will become even more of a topic in the future. There is an urgent need for solutions like those mentioned and underscored below by ABB, as well as for more renewable energy and smart grid projects to be implemented.
