Attendees at the Stellantis event in Paris were shocked to see the electric Jeep Avenger crossover for the first time. The fast small SUV is loaded with classic “Jeep” aesthetic cues, and its aggressively knobby AT tires, which fill the wheel wells of the new vehicle, give it a great-looking off-road attitude. But hold off on falling in love with it just yet; it won’t be available in the US.
JEEP THE GLOBAL Jeep is developing into a truly global brand with global aspirations under Stellantis’ leadership. As a result, it makes sense for the renowned brand to create automobiles for particular markets, in this case, Europe.
My fellow Americans, don’t worry. The Bronco-busting Jeep Recon EV will be available as a 2024 model, and if the 0-60 MPH in 2.0 second Magneto concept is to be believed, the next all-electric Wrangler will be an incredible beast. As a result, we can afford to rejoice over our European friends’ success. Check out what they receive!
The revolutionary STLA 400-volt electrical system, which powers an all-wheel-drive powertrain with two motors, lies at the heart of the Avenger. For some reason, details on the 44 concept car are being kept under wraps, but given that the front-drive Avenger EV has a single motor and can produce 154 HP and 192 lb-ft of torque, assuming 308 HP would be a reasonable guess. With reports of a 249-mile range on the European cycle, the 2WD Avenger’s li-ion battery pack is supposed to charge the battery from 20 to 80 percent in under 24 minutes.
Of course, that EV technology is nice, but the Avenger’s Jeep-ness is what makes it newsworthy. The 44 Concept has tow hooks, bigger fenders and tracks, as well as larger, more aggressive tires, on the outside, according to reads the official Stellantis press release . “Thanks to the ground clearance which now surpasses 200 mm, the approach angle has been improved to 21 degrees, departure angle to 34 degrees, and breakover angle to 20 degrees, further enhancing the capacity of the Jeep Avenger.”
We can’t blame the Jeep brass for smiling with pleasure when they saw the small SUV in Paris. Meunier says, “Here in Paris, we have demonstrated that we have a full portfolio of new all-electric Jeep vehicles just around the corner. “We continue with a clear objective in mind: to advance along our route to realizing our aim of Zero Emission Freedom to become the world’s leading electrified SUV brand.”
