American Robotics and Ondas Networks Aid in the Capture of Dangerous Pipeline Leaks

I don’t think I need to explain the issue with oil leaks from pipelines, but methane (sometimes known as natural gas) leaks are less well-known. In addition to being harmful to humans and animals who breathe it in, loose methane in the atmosphere is also a significantly more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Therefore, it is imperative that we maintain that material in the ground or the pipelines.

While just ceasing drilling and placing it in potentially leaky pipes would be the perfect solution, we are not there now and won’t be there soon. Currently, replacing filthy coal power with renewable energy is essential for addressing climate change and protecting human health since it offers the greatest environmental return on investment. Then we may concentrate on the next worst thing, which is fuel oil, and finally the worst thing, which is gas. Shutting down gas at this time would leave people without heat and electricity in their homes or compel us to switch to coal, which is a bad move.

In order to limit harms while moving toward the objective of replacing methane energy with renewable sources, we must. Ondas Networks and American Robotics have a clever solution for this problem.

They recently revealed that their autonomous Scout System drone now has expanded features that allow both current and potential oil and gas customers to automate visual inspection of oil and gas facilities and assets. With the help of their new sensors, oil and gas firms will be able to find leaks considerably more quickly and stop them before they cause excessive methane emissions. Perhaps more significantly, its sensors will enable drone operators to identify warning indications that could result in leaks and stop them entirely.

Reese Mozer, co-founder and CEO of American Robotics, said the inclusion of these new functionalities to the Scout System broadens the company’s competitive advantage within the autonomous drone-in-a-box (DIB) industry. By automating inspections so that human operators are not required to be present on-site, our oil and gas customers may revolutionize operations, lower costs, and boost safety. This has been accomplished via close collaboration with our customers. This innovative development is an illustration of how American Robotics keeps expanding its industry-leading presence in the oil and gas industry.

The automated Scout System from American Robotics, which has been approved by the FAA and includes capabilities specifically designed for the oil and gas industry, enables oil and gas customers to regularly inspect assets like pumpjacks, heater treaters, tanks, flare stacks, pipes, pumps, and electrical infrastructure while also boosting profitability by reducing operating costs.

The environment will be protected while also accelerating the digitization of physical assets through automated inspections that use cutting-edge photography and AI to uncover major infrastructure vulnerabilities.

Over 500,000 miles of pipeline and nearly 900,000 oil and gas well pads in the US will require routine monitoring. The drone-in-a-box (DIB) market in the oil and gas industry is estimated to be worth $22 billion globally by American Robotics. The news from today has further emphasized American Robotics’ position as an industry leader in this quickly expanding sector. Autonomous capabilities are advantageous to American Robotics, and market expansion will increase its revenue. Combining oil and gas-specific expertise with the company’s FAA license for fully autonomous operations outside visual line of sight can strengthen its competitive advantage in the commercial drone industry.

In Q3 2022, American Robotics will start offering its clients the high-resolution RGB camera and high-resolution thermal camera through the Scout System. learn more about the system here is possible.

The fact that this system doesn’t require fossil fuels to function is probably its strongest feature. Clean electric power is necessary for all of this to occur.
